2025 NIL Store Awards

WHAT TO EXPECT

The NIL Store is celebrating the 2025 NIL Store Awards for the second consecutive year, which will culminate on #NILDay (July 1) recognizing the fourth anniversary of the passing of NIL legislation.

The awards feature an array of categories from the past academic year, highlighting athletes, administrators, school partners and the best merch collaborations!

*Award winners were determined via a combination of a fan vote and an NIL Store internal committee.

2025 NIL Award Winners

Merch Moment of the Year - Derik Queen
Maryland Men’s Basketball. America was begging for an NCAA Tournament buzzer-beater and Maryland’s Derik Queen delivered with a stunning stepback against Colorado State. In his postgame interview, when Queen was asked how he did it, he proclaimed: “I’m from Baltimore, that’s why.” So we put it on a shirt.
NIL Director of the Year - Ben Chase
University of Florida. Ben’s energy and commitment on behalf of his student-athletes is unmatched, constantly collaborating on new opportunities and developing new ideas. He’s not only a leader for Gator athletes, but a leader for NIL Directors across the country.
Philanthropic Spirit Award - Blake Shapen
Mississippi State University Football. Mississippi State quarterback Blake Shapen loves giving back to the community, especially the youth, so he invited hundreds of local children to come to the Bulldogs Spring Game where he outfitted them with “Blake’s Bulldogs” merch.
Licensing Director of the Year - Larry Birkett
Marquette University
Most Innovative Design Collaboration - Luke Altmyer - Luke’s Linemen Collection
Illinois Football. Each week of the season, QB1 Altmyer walked into the stadium repping a custom t-shirt featuring a different offensive linemen on the team.
Best School Activation of the Year - Louisville - NIL Blanks Program In-Venue Launch at KFC YUM! Center
Louisville installed an NIL Zone in the KFC YUM! Center, allowing fans to customize merch for their favorite athletes in minutes while at basketball games.
Top Earning Olympic Male Athlete - Wehiwa Aloy

The Nominations

Nominees were voted upon and selected by NIL Store staff members. Winners will be determined by a fan vote, in addition to input from an NIL Store Awards committee.
