Trinidad Chambliss: From Division II to the Center of the SEC
Few college football stories match Trinidad Chambliss's. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native played at Ferris State from 2021 to 2024 and won two Division II national championships there. He transferred to Ole Miss after spring practice had ended and arrived as the backup to Austin Simmons. Once he got his chance, he never gave the job back. WikipediaThe Dispatch
Chambliss started the rest of the 2025 season, finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting, and led the Rebels to a 13-2 record, the most wins in program history, along with their first College Football Playoff appearance. In the Sugar Bowl rematch with Georgia, he threw for a season-high 362 yards and two touchdowns in a 39–34 upset and earned offensive MVP honors. The DispatchWikipedia
Then came an offseason fight to stay in Oxford. The NCAA denied his request for another year of eligibility, and the case went to court, where Chambliss won a preliminary injunction allowing him to play. He has made the most of it. Against Lane Kiffin's new LSU team on September 19, Chambliss threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns and ran in the tiebreaking score in the fourth quarter, lifting No. 8 Ole Miss past No. 7 LSU 32-24. Kewan Lacy: The Record-Breaking Ole Miss Running Back
If Chambliss is the engine of the Ole Miss offense, Kewan Lacy is the hammer. The Dallas native started his career at Missouri before transferring to Oxford, and his first season as a Rebel was historic. tigerrag
Lacy finished 2025 third nationally with 1,464 rushing yards and second in the FBS with 23 rushing touchdowns, and he became the first Doak Walker Award finalist in program history. Those 23 rushing scores broke the Ole Miss single-season record of 16 that Quinshon Judkins set in 2022. He also forced 88 missed tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. cdispatch.com +2
Like Chambliss, Lacy chose Oxford over Baton Rouge. Both players had been seen as potential LSU transfers after Kiffin left, but both committed to staying with the Rebels. Lacy has kept rolling in 2026, including a 5-yard power run for a touchdown during Ole Miss' 17-0 start against LSU. theScoreMississippi Today
