Wrestler Shocks The World, UConn NIL Store Media, and more!
March 22, 2023

Purdue NIL Store athlete Matt Ramos sent shockwaves through the wrestling community last weekend when he did the unthinkable, defeating 3-time National Champion Spencer Lee.

It was one of the greatest upsets in wrestling history.

Lee was the closest thing to unbeatable, having already claimed the Hodge Trophy twice in his career as the nation’s best pound-for-pound wrestler.

So when Ramos pinned Lee in the NCAA semifinals, it was a massive deal. Video of the upset went viral across social media.

And the Purdue NIL Store was there to capitalize.

In less than 12 hours, Ramos approved his “shock the world” custom merch and it was available for purchase prior to his championship match later that evening.

Fans recognized the magnitude of the moment, and Ramos’ sales took off as a result.

The NIL Store is proud to put its athletes first in everything it does.

That means staying ready for the next big moment, so athletes can maximize their earning potential.

UConn NIL Store Earns Media Attention

The UConn NIL Store has only been open since late January, but has quickly become one of the NIL Store Network’s top-performing stores.

It’s no surprise - the UConn women’s basketball has one of the greatest collegiate brands in the nation, and it doesn’t hurt that the men’s program has returned to national prominence as well. Both teams are set to compete in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen this weekend.

In addition to catching the attention of UConn fans, the UConn NIL Store has gained a bit of notoriety from both the Hartford Courant and The Next Hoops newsletter.

The Courant notes all of the different NIL merchandise options for UConn fans, but made special note of the NIL Store’s industry-leading payouts in comparison to its competitors.

The Next Hoops newsletter, meanwhile, is a long story on how international athletes are navigating NIL waters.

It mentions UConn’s commitment to allowing its international athletes to make passive income on merchandise sales, and how the UConn NIL Store has gone above and beyond to service its athletes through its marketing.

Five NIL Store Teams Seeking Sweet Sixteen!

We’ve got our eyes on five teams across four NIL Store schools this weekend as the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments continue.

On the men’s side, we are represented by San Diego State, Michigan State and UConn.

And on the women’s side, we have Virginia Tech and UConn. The Hokies and Huskies have the chance to meet in the Elite Eight!

Enjoy another weekend of great basketball!
