UConn WBB Players Design Jerseys for Late Friend; Donating All Proceeds
February 2, 2025

STORRS (Feb. 2, 2025) -- The players of the UConn women’s basketball team partnered with the NIL Store to create specialty purple jerseys to honor the life of Abby Zittoun, a young friend of the program.

In honor of Abby’s impact on the team, the players of the UConn women’s basketball program have pledged to donate all of their proceeds from the purple jerseys to the Abigail Zittoun Family Foundation, which will support families of children battling serious illness.

Abby had an infectious, positive personality and a special bond with the UConn players. She courageously battled cancer for seven years and sadly passed away in October at 13 years old.

“We met Abby through Connecticut Children’s [Medical Center] a few years ago, and she formed a really special bond with the Huskies,” said Caroline Ducharme in a video posted by the UConn women’s basketball X account. “Abby was our team’s biggest supporter and was always sending us encouraging words when we were struggling. We hope by sharing our connection and love for Abby, we can continue to spread her legacy.”

The jerseys are in shades of purple, one of Abby’s favorite colors, and feature hearts drawn by Abby. The hearts are present on the left chest of the jersey, as to be present with all of our hearts.

The UConn women’s basketball team honored Abby prior to their Sunday matchup with Butler by wearing “Love, Abby” shooting shirts in warmups. The text on the shirts is in Abby’s handwriting, and feature her signature hearts.

ABOUT CAMPUS INK AND THE NIL STORE

Backed by Mark Cuban, Campus Ink expanded into the Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) space in 2021 and launched the NIL Store, which serves as a merchandising solution for student-athletes and schools across the country. The NIL Store operates with the firm belief that every student-athlete has an opportunity to capitalize on their NIL and should earn industry-leading payouts. Campus Ink was founded in 1947 on the campus of the University of Illinois and was reimagined in 2015 with an office in downtown Chicago and a production facility in Urbana, Ill., where the company handles all of its own production and fulfillment.
